About Ambedkar Progressive Trust (APT)

APT is a well known organization in the Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh, India.

It is a symbol of community development in the areas of technical education, skill development, healthcare, environment, sanitation, primary education, adult literacy and social activities, compassionate response to the terrible living conditions of the disadvantaged population of Visakhapatnam district., in the absence of basic services of qualitative education and health care, adequate employment and food security, effective governance and empowerment, resulting into the low social, economic and political status.

The organization is involved and participated in various socio-economic development programmes such as Solid waste management programmes, Urban rehabilitation programmes and skill development programmes, Child Labour Rehabilitation, Eye Care Camps, Income Generating Programmes, Promotion of Self Help Groups and other Community based organizations, People's Institutions, Savings and Credit, Community Based Rehabilitation of the Differently Abled, Safe Drinking Water, Health and Sanitation, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Policy Advocacy on Child Rights, Child Sponsorship, Non-Formal and Supplementary Education such as Non-Residential Bridge schools and Bridge Schools and Inclusive Education, HIV/AIDS, Disable welfare Activities, Skill Development programmes.

Mission

To create a platform for sustainable rural transformation and to build the capacities of rural & urban poor to control their environment, resources and levels of power through inclusiveness, ownership and meaningful participation in the developmental efforts and decision-making processes.

To attain complete health and to create and strengthen the institutional base and organizational structure conductive for the empowerment of the rural poor and making them aware of their rights and choices.

To improve the quality of human capital by providing opportunities for optimum expression and realizing full potential of human personality.

History of the Organization

Ambedkar Progressive Trust is a non-profit, voluntary development organization established and registered in 2018 under the leadership of Shri. Kondru Jagadseeswara Rao. Its target community is constituted of Urban, Rural Poor especially Tribal, Dalits and marginalized population of Andhra Pradesh and especially in Visakhapatnam District.

The organization has set its jurisdiction primarily to work in the north east coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh viz., Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam.

About Founder

Shri. Kondru Jagadseeswara Rao, is a well educated, hailing from a renowned Political family. He always stays in front to help the poor and downtrodden, especially those who are not able to get education due to their poverty and the destitute for their food and clothing. He has a magnanimous heart towards the poor, dying old aged people, who do not possess food, shelter and any support from their family members. He is always very active in addressing the Socio-economic issues and stays in front line to redress them within possible amicable solutions with the help of local officials, police, philanthropists and local political leaders. He never steps back to take up any issue that affects the harmony among the rural as well as the urban areas of operation.
